Abstract

This study analyses word formation and the effect of Ishaar on alternative  forms, and it discusses the different linguistic forms that are attributed to Ishaar by linguists. The study begins with the meaning of Ishaar, and the most prominent linguistic foundations that contribute in defining the role of Ishaar in explaining word formation. Then the study elaborates on how linguistic issues have differed in their approach due to the Ishaar effect, such as plurality and duality, affixes addition, modification and ellipsis. Moreover, the study explores through accurate observation the most important examples and explanations found in dictionaries and linguistic sources that rely on Ishaar. The study then ends with a conclusion that presents the findings.
