Abstract

The economic factor plays an important role in solving the problem of dividing Nile water; this can be done through studying the relationships of trade exchange between the Nile basin countries (NBCs), especially with Egypt, by identifying two principal elements: studying the important commodities of foreign trade and identifying the countries that deal commercially with Nile basin countries. Based on studying the principal imports of NBC's (Wheat, Corn, Sugar, Palm-oil) and studying the principal exports (Green Coffee, Tea, Sesame), the study suggests that the priorities for Egypt's trade with NBC's should be importing more than exporting. This can be done through the first scenario (importing Tea) and the second scenario (importing Sesame). The third priority is to encourage the exportation of Wheat.
