Metafiction is a central feature of postmodern and after postmodern fiction، though its beginnings hits in ancient narrative depths. The exact term and serious attention emerged in the seventies of the twentieth century. This paper is aiming at studying the representations of this technique in Lucius Apuleius’ Metamorphoses or Golden Ass. The paper tackles term and its problematic، as well as definitions of this technique. A short biography of the author and the text was another topic of the paper. The paper extracted and analyzed 13 samples in the text as representations of this technique
