Abstract

The study aims at investing the role of cultural industries with special emphasis - handicraft industry- This is done as an alternative developmental approach that contributes to the production of creative goods and services, a competitive source in the creative economy. The study ends in finding that even with the existence of a creative craftsmen and the richness of the national culture, there still remain some risks that face building up cultural industries. The most important of these risks are: the lack of centers that are specialized in these industries, the lack of interest of young people in the practice of creative work, high prices of raw materials, the weakness of financial funding, and poor marketing  on both levels: the local and the international. All of these problems have hindered the influence of cultural industries- Traditional Crafts Industry- on enhancing Egypt's creative economy.
