Decency as a criticism criterion in Mutanabbi’s poetry

Abstract

This study attempts to uncover an old criticism criterion of " decency " as used by critics and interpreters of the poetry of Mutanabbi. To achieve this demand, it is necessary to refer to a number of famous commentaries on the poems of Mutanabbi, which are explained in the main part of this paper. The study of the considered material will be made through two themes:
First: It discusses the criterion of decency in the light of the external context of the texts of Mutanabbi, that is, all the texts of decency related to customs and traditions.
Second: It discusses the criterion of decency in light of the internal context of the texts, i.e. all the texts of decency associated with the aesthetic principle. 
The research on the decency was criticized in the second century and before, and found that it tended to the customs and traditions, and that some critics have fine gesture related to the poetry itself; yet it is very rare.
