Spotlights on textiles industry in Zebeid Town in the reign of Bani  Rassoul Throughout the book of " Nour  Almaaref

Abstract

 
Textiles industry in Zebeid Hourished greatly in the era of ""Rassoul state" as a result of several factors such as the availability of raw materials necessary to develop that industry . Those raw materials were either local or imported from other countries like cotton, linen, silk, wool , goats fur and substances of dye.
There are some other factors that helped to develop textiles industry in Zebied from which, the encouragement of the rulers since textiles were involved in the lists of antiques and presents which the kings and sultans of Yemen presented on different occasions to the guests and nobles of other countries on the one hand and to the sultans of neighboring countries on the other hand.
There were many mills of tapestry in Yemen which produced various kinds of weaving , there fore "Zebeid Town " had great fame in that  field and was specialized in making textiles and tapestries for the sultans and royal men of Beni Rassoul, besides the public tapestry mill to meet the needs of people under the supervision of the government which equiped Yemen markets with public textiles .
The book of "Nour El-Maaref" provided us with the names of this industry men such as Muhammad Ben Omar Ben Anbar Al Hareery and Rehan Al Baragmy and others. The most famous kinds of textiles were the Holy Kaaba's uniforms which had several stages like cutting the tapestry into pieces or slices, dying with different colours as well as several forms of men and women's uninforms .
This research shows the prices of raw materials , the ………….makers' wages and the taxes on them. After the goods were manufacturized, they were carried to the markets of Yemen cities.
Eventually, this research deals with the factors of deterioration of this craft in Zebeid factors of deterioration of this craft in Zebeid town like imposing heavy taxes on craftsmen in addition to rebeltion movements which led to vandalizing villages, ravishing farms and stopping the trade movement because of bandits . All those factors led to the deterioration of the wearing industry in " Zebeid Town ".
