Abstract

This study seeks to identify the attitudes of primary school students towards digital children's literature, especially as we live in an era of information and technological revolution. Today’s child is increasingly engaged with technological devices for learning, reading, and even playing. Since literature has always been a key means of transferring culture and traditions from one generation to the next in ways that keep pace with societal development, digital children's literature has emerged to convey cultural content across its various genres (such as stories, books, poems, etc.) by integrating literary elements with interactive digital formats through electronic devices. This integration achieves a fusion between literature and technology.
The study adopted the descriptive-analytical method, and Reception Aesthetics Theory was used as the theoretical framework. A questionnaire was utilized as the primary research tool to assess the attitudes of primary school students in two schools—one public and one private—in the city of Mansoura.
The study’s results revealed a correlation between the high socioeconomic status of students in the private school and their increased interaction with digital children’s literature. It was also found that interactive stories were the most appealing digital literary form for children at this stage, followed by interactive books, then picture books. Moreover, the study showed that digital literature helps instill various educational values and stimulates children's imagination.
