In the context of globalization, the importance of teaching spoken Chinese grammar to foreign learners has become increasingly prominent. This study focuses on this area, exploring its key points and challenges. The teaching focus is on cultivating students’ ability to correctly apply Chinese spoken grammar rules and develop their pragmatic competence, but numerous difficulties persist.
At the student level, limited vocabulary restricts the application of grammar, shallow understanding of grammatical rules leads to errors, and cultural differences cause pragmatic mistakes. From the teacher's perspective, there is insufficient emphasis on spoken grammar instruction, teaching methods tend to be monotonous, and individual differences among students are often overlooked.
In terms of the teaching environment and resources, there are limited opportunities for speaking practice, unequal distribution of resources, and a lack of training in cross-cultural communication skills. To address these challenges, this study proposes a series of solutions, including strengthening vocabulary instruction, innovating teaching methods, and optimizing resource allocation. Through these measures, it is expected that teaching quality will improve, students’ ability to use spoken grammar will enhance, and their cross-cultural communication skills will be promoted, thus advancing the development of teaching Chinese as a foreign language.
