Documents of the Scholars` Formal Dress during (1888-1901) A Documentary Archival Study

Abstract

This paper is a study of original unique Arabic documents preserved in the National Archives of Egypt. This paper tackles the documents of the scholars`Formal Dress during the period (1888-1901). These documents have not been studied or published before in diplomatics. In this study, the researcher applies the historical documentary methodology by analyzing and criticizing these documents to induct and deduct new facts. The archival analysis provids a detailed demonstration of its objective contents, in addition to a concise descriptive archival card for each document according to ISAD. The diplomatic analysis provids an illustrative table of the characteristics of Riqa' handwriting used in the documents. The study also points out the most important linguistic and stylistic features of the documents. Moreover, the study uncovers the informational value of the documents. The researcher published, transcribed, and copyedited the documents according to the standard rules of publishing Arabic documents, in addition to providing a clear definition and authentication of its most important terms.
