This study analyzes two plays: “Pared” (2004) by the spanish author Itziar Pascual and “Stone Maryam” (2020) by the palestinian author Mostafa an-Nabih. Both plays deal with the subject of the oppression of women and the aggression suffered by the protagonists in their private enviroment: the house. In this respect, both authors bring to the public sphere an issue that has always been part of the private sphere: physical and verbal violence, emotional tyranny, economic control, and destructive behavior. Both plays forground the female voice.
