Artificial intelligence has brought about the Fourth Industrial Revolution, and even more so, because it is about to bring about a cultural revolution. Even if we do not deny that it will change our future, we do not know how it will happen. This is what makes it tempting and scary at the same time.
However, some applications of artificial intelligence have become questionable: including the collection of data that violates private life, and facial recognition algorithms that are supposed to be used to identify aggressive behavior or that contain racial bias. Artificial intelligence raises many ethical problems, the severity of which could worsen in the future, and while scientific research is progressing very quickly with regard to the technical aspects of artificial intelligence, but we find it faltering when it comes to its ethical aspects. It is true that many researchers express their concern, and that some countries have begun to think seriously about this issue, but to date there is no legal framework to guide the research. future at the global level.
This study presents to the reader what should be kept in mind regarding this topic in the field of Policies for the Use of Artificial Intelligence Technologies in Saudi Information Institutions. Artificial intelligence, in its current state, is not capable of thinking. We are still far from being able to upload all the components of a human being into a computer.
This study relied on the descriptive approach, using the questionnaire as the main tool for collecting information from the community of researchers who rely on the use of artificial intelligence tools in some Saudi information institutions. The study concluded that artificial intelligence raises many ethical problems, such as violation of privacy, racial bias, and other problems. .
This is what the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia realized early to implement ethical practices for emerging technologies, especially artificial intelligence technology. The Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority has created new professions and jobs related to the ethics of artificial intelligence, and the International Center for Artificial Intelligence Research and Ethics was established in partnership with UNESCO to follow up on awareness-raising policies. Community, and providing training in the field of artificial intelligence ethics. The Royal Commission for Intellectual Property Rights also paid attention to this topic and its applications in the Kingdom to preserve the rights resulting from the use of this modern emerging technology and its effects in Saudi and Arab society.
