Artificial Intelligence in Spanish Language Teaching: Challenges and Opportunities at Cairo University

Abstract

The main objective of this research is to investigate the possibility of employing artificial intelligence tools in teaching Spanish language to students of the Philology Department and the Multilingual Spanish Translation and Interpretation Program at the Faculty of Arts, Cairo University.
 
The study focuses primarily on teaching grammar rules at level A2, according to Common European Framework of References for Languages (CEFR), but it will also approach other levels according to the students’ needs and experiment with the available artificial intelligence tools.
 The students’ needs will be identified through an exploratory study conducted by the researcher to determine the most important needs of the students in using artificial intelligence at the time of preparing the study, such as the “Chatbots” tools and other available tools, and this is due to the importance of the field of artificial intelligence, which is invading various areas of life, so it was necessary to exploit this type of technological progress in the field of academic teaching and to study applicable tools, obstacles, and how to overcome them.
