This study aims to attempt to reveal the methodology of transferring vocabulary denoting colors in use, from linguistic meaning to conventional meaning in the scientific field, its role in forming terminology in various scientific disciplines, and its relationship to creativity. New terms, ways of forming them, and areas of transition from basic meaning to conventional meaning, in light of the tremendous momentum of terminology, the development of technology, the information revolution, and global cultural openness.
In order to achieve this, the study seeks to define the vocabulary that refers to colors in specialized scientific dictionaries. To identify new terms in scientific disciplines, identify the most common colors in terminological use, reveal their central and secondary meanings, the role of meaning in forming scientific terms; To reveal the development of colors connotations from linguistic meaning to terminological use.
The study uses the descriptive approach to benefit scientific research by revealing the methodology for establishing scientific terminology that relies in its construction on color vocabulary, and the extent of the possibility of enriching applied linguistics, in one of its important branches, which is lexicography, by developing the nucleus of a trilingual electronic dictionary between (Arabic, English, and French) for that language. Terminology is useful in defining them and their areas of use among specialists. It also contributes to enriching machine translation processes and their accuracy.
