Abstract

The study investigates the ways in which heritage is employed in Omani novels, using a variety of models for the twenty-seven published Omani novels that were released between 1965 and 2020. It also considers the thresholds of other novels without digging deeply into their content.
The study set out to read several novels to reveal the forms of employing heritage in the Omani novel in its various popular, cultural, religious, national, and humanitarian dimensions. The forms of employing heritage include narrative methods and techniques, starting from the thresholds, then the temporal and spatial structures, and finally the forms and techniques included in the spoken, such as employing the Omani dialect, proverbs, poems, traditional arts, and heritage.
The study included ten main heritage forms that appeared in the Omani novel, including: heritage in the novel's thresholds (title, cover, dedication, or opening); heritage and narrative space; heritage and narrative time; heritage and novelist character; heritage and religious texts; dialogue and Omani dialect; poems, songs, and traditional arts; proverbs and prose arts; myths and stories of the jinn, magic, and myth; and a dictionary of heritage vocabulary.
The study concluded that the Omani novelist frequently incorporates Omani and non-Omani heritage into his works, as well as Omani vocabulary, dialects, arts, traditional poetry in a variety of forms, Omani proverbs, stories of the jinn and magic, as well as ancient Arab and Islamic heritage, including the Holy Qur'an, hadith, and others, as well as national heritage linked to
