Abstract

Arhamah bin Jabir Al-Jalahma, his personality, and his dispute with the Al Khalifa family, 1783-1826
The study deals with the personality of Arhama bin Jaber, Who lived in the Arabian Gulf region during the last quarter of the eighteenth century and the first quarter of the nineteenth century, whose lineage goes back to the Jalahmah tribe which was one of three tribes within the so-called Utob tribes that played the primary role in the history of the modern Arab Gulf.
Particularly, The study deals with the piracy activity that Arahma practiced, which was directed against his cousins from the Al Khalifa and Al Sabah family, who took away from him and his tribe any political gains in the region; This included a discussion of this despute with its causes, results, manifestations and impact in an environment full with ambitions and conflicts between local and external political that worked sometimes to fuel this dispute or calm it in other times..
The study also deals with the reality of Arhama’s activity; was it piracy? or Just a way to take away his and his tribe rights from Al Khalifa in creating a stable rule?
