Abstract

This research dealt with the study of the natural and human geographical features of Al-Rawda Island, as follows:-
First: With regard to the location of the island and its location, it was found that the island gained its importance through its uniqueness in the characteristics of the location and location. Its location also gained its importance by being one of the important crossing sites and being a river island. Rather, it is the oldest river island that appeared in the Cairo area before the Arab conquest.
As for its urban location, it turned out that it is not far from Amran, the center of the capital. The elevation points also determined the slopes of the first beginnings of growth and its directions, as the first intentions of urbanization arose in the heart of the island in areas far from the dangers of flooding, where the elevations are high.
Second: - In terms of the urban development of the island, it became clear from the study and tracking the urban development of the island that it remained during the historical periods from the Arab conquest until the modern era, the focus of attention of the rulers and sultans in Egypt thanks to the uniqueness of its location and position. Governance and administration of the Egyptian capital during the eras of the Tulunid and Ayyubid states, as it was built in palaces and orchards until it became an important suburb and an important royal park and a destination for the public
