Abstract

The concept of the woman-the home: a semiotic reading of the novel "Palestine" by Hubert Haddad.
The abstract :
This study aims to scrutinize and explain the concept of the woman-home, which is a concept previously used in commenting on the novel “Najma” by the Algerian novelist Kateb Yassin. It is a concept that we have always lived through and invoked due to the fact that the concept of the home is represented in the image of a woman and its connection with her as is the case in France ( Marianne) and in Egypt ( Baheya ).
Through this study, we will shed light on the perspective of semiotics or the science of semantics and meanings, given that it involves four main axes of meaning: place, woman, symbolism and value, which are four axes that intertwine in this concept.
The problematic of this research aims to ask the following questions and try to answer them: How can semiotic analysis be able to interpret and study this concept through the aforementioned text and what is the extent of its impact on the meaning through a comparison between the text and the cover image.
