Abstract

Abstract
This paper is a part of a phraseographic study that aims to examine the treatment of the phraseological units in the specialized Spanish phraseological dictionaries. The present research focuses on studying the idioms’ labelling in the Spanish phraseological monolingual dictionaries. Our objective is to present the different types of labels used in the phraseological dictionaries and to analyze the procedures adopted for the inclusion of the labels in these dictionaries. Therefore, the research is based on a corpus that consists of seven Spanish phraseological monolingual dictionaries. The analysis of the labels that are included in the lexicographical articles of these dictionaries allowed us to verify that the included labels express different types of information that guides the usage of the idioms in different contexts. However, the procedures adopted for the inclusions of the labels in each dictionary are different and not only varies from one dictionary to another, but also varies in the same dictionary. Hence, we highlight the usefulness of the labelling procedure and the importance of establishing criteria that guides the inclusion of the labels in the phraseological dictionaries in a more consistent way.
