Abstract

The research seeks to determine the semantics of monosyllabic and binary letters that Al-Zajaji addressed in the Qur’anic evidence in the book "Horoof AL-Maani", in order to know the impact of the Qur’anic context in determining the significance of the letter. The research adopted the descriptive analytical method by following the Qur’anic evidence that appeared in the book “Hrouf al-Ma’ani”, including monosyllabic and binary letters, in order to study them through the context in which they were mentioned. The research was divided into an introduction in which it dealt with the talk about the meanings of letters, two chapters and a conclusion. The first topic: it talks about the semantics of monosyllabic letters, and the second topic: deals with the semantics of binary letters.
The research concluded with a number of results, the most important of which are: Revealing the Al-Zajaji awareness of the importance of the Qur’anic context and its impact on determining the significance. This paper has also proven that the semantics of letters are closely related to the Qur'anic context, and that some letters have connotations that differ according to the Qur'anic context. This paper revealed the difference between grammarians and Al-Zajaji in the semantics of some letters.
