The effectiveness of machine translation of nominal sentence from Arabic to English Study in the Google Translate app

This research paper aims at testing the reliability of the (Google Translate) application in translating Arabic nominal sentences into English and vice versa, a correct translation that leads to the true, intended meaning. Such aim is achieved by extrapolating the different patterns of the Arabic sentence and their translations which are provided by the application, and by identifying and interpreting the flaws in the translation, in order to establish accurate mechanisms that can be adopted to perform similar translation operations, according to the rules governing the Arabic nominal sentence and its equivalent in English, focusing attention on the syntactic aspect.
The research is based on two axes; the first is theoretical, dealing with illustrating the concept of the Arabic nominal sentence, with its elements represented by the subject and the predicate (theme and rheme), and the relation of predication. It also states their patterns, their generative components, the ranking of those components, and the freedom of movement among them. Moreover, it asserts the effectiveness of the concepts related to the term "nominal sentence" when performing linguistic computing operations that depend on “the machine” as a tool for linguistic achievement. As for the second, it is applicationlicable that extrapolates a large number of nominal sentences of different patterns, and their translations on Google, specifying the types of problems that have occurred in translation processes with examples copied directly from the site.
