The terms Utopia and Dystopia A terminological study

Abstract

This study is based on monitoring the discrepancy or contact between a number of problematic terms intersecting with utopia and dystopia. These terms are including: political fiction, science fiction literature, and horror literature.
The study reviews the origins and development of the term utopia, the stages of its formation from a philosophical and creative perspective, as well as the motives for attaching it to the dream of change. The study also monitors first dystopia novels, exploring their features, and tracing the origins of the concept of dystopia in the first novels. The study also analyzes the motives that constitute the forward-looking fiction writing for post-revolution within the limits of the disappointments of the tragedy that dystopia novels adopts, or the hope of realizing the project of salvation adopted by utopia novels.This research is part of a dissertation dealing with the terms utopia and dystopia; In order to benefit from them in literary criticism. Some forms of fictional writing intersect with utopia or dystopia fiction.
