Language anxiety among English Language learners as a second language from Arabic Language speakers

Abstract

The current study aimed at both identifying the levels and sources of foreign language anxiety among Gulf Cooperation Council "GCC" countries students who study English as a second language, and highlighting statistically significant differences for foreign language anxiety and its sources which were attributed to the study's variables among GCC countries students who study English as a second language. The study's population consisted of all male and female students who study English as a second language in the city of Newcastle in England, and the study's sample included (109) students in total. The researcher used the "Descriptive Comparative Approach" as the methodology, and also the Foreign Language Class Anxiety Scale "FLCAS" developed by Horwitz et al as the instrument. The researcher has concluded a number of results of which the most important could be discussed as follows: The level and source of foreign language anxiety for GCC countries students who study English as a second language was (medium), there was no statistically significant differences attributed to the study's variables(gender, and courses) regarding the levels and sources of foreign language anxiety for GCC countries students who study English as a second language.
