Knowledge Management and its Effect on Institutional Performance: A Socio-Organizational Approach

Abstract

The aim of the study is to define the role of knowledge management and to determine its impact on institutional performance. The number of individuals in the research sample reached 121 faculty and administrative members of a university in the higher education sector, and the questionnaire was used as a main tool for the study. The study is divided into four parts: the first is the initial information and data; the second part consists of the relationship between the requirements of knowledge management and the development of the institutional performance of the study community. The third part is the role of knowledge management in achieving efficiency and effectiveness within the study community while the fourth part is based on identifying the challenges and obstacles facing knowledge management within the study population. The data was analyzed by the statistical program (SPSS) (version 25). The study relies on descriptive statistics. The results show the institution’s interest in the field of study to improve the services provided to students and the administration and services that develop scientific research and the relationship between the requirements of knowledge management and the development of institutional performance at the university to facilitate it to achieve efficiency and effectiveness, and the need to have knowledge experts within the institution’s field of study to maintain updated information, which contributes to the dissemination of modern creative knowledge. The conclusion discusses how knowledge management requirements and processes, as a strategic imperative facing organizations due to successive changes, affect the field of information technology; this contributes to achieving its vision, mission and goals in supporting the performance of workers within these organizations.
